Jon Cornish led the league in rushing with 1,457 yards and 11 touchdowns. The Calgary Stampeders star added another 221 yards rushing in the postseason so far.
The Toronto Argonauts have heard as much about Cornish as the Stampeders have heard about their own superstar, Chad Owens, but that doesn't mean they're paying him any extra attention.
"We're not really worried about one individual guy," said Argonauts LB Ejiro Kuale. "They play good together as a team. Rather than focus on one guy, we have to think about the bigger picture."
The lack of special attention given to Cornish isn't disrespect from the Argos' defence; rather an understanding that Calgary's offence can beat a team in a lot of different ways.
"(Cornish) is one of their main weapons but you just can't put all your focus on him because they have great receivers also," linebacker Robert McCune said.
"Kevin Glenn has been in this league a long time, he's a veteran quarterback, he does a great job of reading defences," McCune continued.
"You can't take him lightly because he does a great job, so we just have to prepare, watch film, study and just go play football."
The Argos' praise of Calgary's veteran QB was just as complete as their praise of the Stampeders' all-star running back.
"I think the one thing that Kevin isn't given credit for often enough is his mobility in the pocket, extending plays, and picking up a big first down running or finding a receiver while he's extending the play," Toronto head coach Scott Milanovich said during the Grey Cup coaches conference.
"Let's face it; this guy is a starting quarterback. Our guys have a ton of respect for Kevin as do I. I've been beaten by him a number of times."
Facing the league's top offence in the biggest game of the year, Kuale said the Argos defence can't stray from the things that made them successful throughout the year.
"The Grey Cup is really just getting the job done. We're just trying to keep everything like we've been doing - keeping everything business, no extras."
Kuale and the Argos defence take on the Stampeders in the 100th Grey Cup on Sunday. Coverage begins at 1pm et/10am pt on TSN and TSN Mobile TV.
