The Edmonton Eskimos took a hit to keep their perfect record intact against the Winnipeg Blue Bombers on Thursday.

Slotback Fred Stamps sustained a hit to the chest late in the fourth quarter of the Eskimos 26-3 victory Thursday night and was taken to hospital for precautionary tests after experiencing shortness of breath following the game.

He was released from hospital and returned to Edmonton Friday morning, according to the team's web site. He will continue to be monitored by medical staff.

Defensive end Marcus Howard also broke his left thumb Thursday night. He will be out indefinitely.
