Calgary Stampeders running back Jon Cornish may be getting closer to a return from a head injury, but it's not likely to happen this week.

Head coach John Hufnagel said Cornish is doubtful for Friday's game against the Hamilton Tiger-Cats but the Calgary Sun reports he has been ruled out for this week.

Last year's Most Outstanding Player has been suffering from concussion-like symptoms after he was knocked out of the Stampeders' Week 1 win over the Montreal Alouettes by Kyries Hebert. Hebert was fined by the league for the hit.

With the benefit of a Week 2 bye, this will just be the second game Cornish misses. Backup Matt Walter filled in against the Toronto Argonauts last week, rushing for 46 yards on 10 carries.

Hufnagel added that linebackers Keon Raymond and Deron Mayo will not play on Friday.

There was some good news for the Stamps however, according to the Sun it appears receiver Nik Lewis will play Friday.
