Wide receiver Paris Jackson signed a one-year contract extension with B.C. Lions on Thursday.

The deal includes an option for a second year as well as a boost in salary. As late as Wednesday, Jackson was expecting to be released but general manager Wally Buono had a change of heart after a team had asked for him in trade.

The Vancouver native is entering his 11th season in the CFL, all with the Lions.

With the departure of Geroy Simon to the Saskatchewan Roughriders, Jackson should see more balls thrown his way.

He has eclipsed the 1,000-yard mark twice in his career but last season, he caught just 10 passes for 127 yards.

Over his career, he has 410 receptions for 5,660 yards and 31 touchdowns.

The Lions also signed DB Korey Banks to a contract extension. Banks recorded 50 tackles and an interception in 2012. Banks was named a CFL All-Star for his efforts.

The 33-year-old has spent seven seasons with BC, missing just one contest. Banks has been named a division all-star in all seven seasons.
