Cornish has big game as Stampeders beat Eskimos on Labour Day

The Calgary Stampeders took over first place in the CFL standings with a 28-13 win over the Edmonton Eskimos in Monday's Labour Day game. Feeling at Home

Zach Collaros had a TD pass against his former team to earn the Hamilton Tiger-Cats a 13-12 win over the Toronto Argonauts in the first-ever game at Tim Hortons Field on Monday. Collaros appeared in his first game since suffering a concussion July 4 against Edmonton. Argos QB Ricky Ray became the youngest player in CFL history to reach the 50,000-yard career in the loss. Heading North?

The Montreal Alouettes appear to be interested in free-agent defensive end Michael Sam. According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, the Montreal Alouettes have contacted Sam but have yet to hear back. Sam, the first openly gay player to be drafted in the NFL, has not been signed to an NFL practice squad since being released by the St. Louis Rams on Saturday. Full Story.

The Grey Cup

The 101st Grey Cup: The Saskatchewan Roughriders captured their fourth Grey Cup in franchise history, and the first on their home field, with a 45-23 blowout of the Hamilton Tiger-Cats. Kory Sheets had a record-setting day, rushing for a Grey Cup record 192 yards on 19 carries, breaking the mark of 169 set by Edmonton's Johnny Bright in 1956.
