Lazar scores hat-trick to lead Canada to win over Russia

Curtis Lazar scored a hat-trick to lead Team Canada to a 6-3 win over Russia on Thursday at the World Junior Development Camp in Sherbrooke, Quebec.

Lazar scored a shorthanded goal in the first period and added two more in the third, including another shorthanded marker into the empty net to clinch the victory.

Nick Baptiste, Anthony Duclair and Sam Bennett also scored for Canada.

Nikita Cherapanov, Vladislav Gavrikov and Ivan Barbashev replied for Russia.

Tristan Jarry allowed one goal in the Canadian net while Zachary Fuchale allowed two goals, including his first in two appearances.

Canadian forward Frederik Gauthier was shaken up late in the first period and did not return.

Canada wraps up the development camp schedule with a matinee against the Czech Republic at Noon et/9am pt, exclusively on and TSN GO.
