MARKHAM, Ont. -- Charline Labonte made 21 saves Thursday as the Montreal Stars shut out the Toronto Furies at the Clarkson Cup women's hockey tournament.

Sarah Vaillancourt and Vanessa Davidson had the goals for Montreal (2-0).

Christina Kessler made 44 saves in taking the loss for Toronto (2-0).

In Thursday's other game at tournament to decide the Canadian Women's Hockey League title, Kate Buesser and Hilary Knight each had a goal and an assist as the Boston Blades beat the Brampton Thunder 2-0.

Buesser opened the scoring at 9:17 of the second period.

The Blades (2-0) looked to go up early in the third period, but Kelley Steadman missed on her penalty shot attempt.

Brampton (0-2) pressed for the equalizer with their goaltender pulled on a late power play, but Knight cemented the win for Boston with a short-handed empty-net goal with 21 seconds left.

Genevieve Lacasse made 29 saves for Boston to earn the shutout.

Florence Schelling stopped 23 shots for Brampton, which has yet to score a goal at the tournament.
