BOSTON - It didn't take long for Munenori Kawasaki to find his way back to the Blue Jays.

Kawasaki, 32, has been recalled from Triple-A Buffalo. He will take the roster spot vacated by Melky Cabrera, who has been placed on the 15-day disabled list with left knee tendinitis.

In 60 games for the Blue Jays this season, Kawasaki has a slash line of .225/.337/.325. He's hit one home run with 17 RBI and has more walks (24) than strikeouts (23).

Despite lingering hamstring and knee problems Cabrera, 28, had appeared in each of Toronto's 78 games this season, hitting .278/.321/.362 with three homers and 29 RBI.

Kawasaki, whose effusive personality garnered him cult hero status in Toronto, was demoted to Buffalo after Tuesday night's game to make room for the return of Jose Reyes.
