YEONGAM, South Korea -- Red Bull driver Sebastian Vettel set the fastest time in Saturday's pre-qualifying practice session at the Korean Grand Prix ahead of McLaren drivers Lewis Hamilton and Jenson Button.
Vettel's fastest lap at the Korean International Circuit was 0.527 seconds faster than Hamilton, who improved on his eighth-place finish in Friday's second practice session. Button was 0.869 seconds back.
Vettel, who won last year's Korean GP, is aiming for his third consecutive win in Sunday's race, which would move him above Ferrari's Fermando Alonso in the drivers' standings.
Alonso was fifth-fastest in Saturday's practice session, behind Lotus drivers Romain Grosjean and Kimi Raikkonen, who is third in the standings despite not having won a race this season.
Vettel's Red Bull teammate Mark Webber, who was prevented from completing a run on supersoft tires because of technical issues, was seventh followed by Ferrari's Felipe Massa.
Williams driver Pastor Maldonado and Force India's Nico Hulkenberg rounded out the top 10 on the timesheets.
