With his Ontario Hockey League season over, Toronto Maple Leafs prospect Tyler Biggs is ready to take the next step.
The 19-year-old Oshawa Generals forward was assigned to the Toronto Marlies of the American Hockey League on Thursday. He will join the team for their next two games in Abbotsford this weekend.
The six-foot-three, 224-pound winger was selected by the Maple Leafs in the first round (22nd overall) of the 2011 NHL Entry Draft.
The Generals were eliminated from the OHL playoffs on Tuesday after a four-game sweep at the hands of the Barrie Colts.
Biggs scored 26 goals and 27 assists in 60 regular season games with the Generals, adding one assist and 13 penalty minutes in nine playoff games.
The Marlies are currently second in the AHL's Western Conference - two points back of the Texas Stars – with just six regular season games remaining.
