Rielly scores but Marlies fall to Wolves in shootout

ROSEMOUNT -- Toronto Maple Leafs first-round draft pick Morgan Rielly scored the tying goal for the Marlies in his pro debut, in what turned out to be a 4-3 shootout loss to the Chicago Wolves in AHL action Friday.

Brett Sterling scored twice for Chicago (30-21-9), and had the only goal of the shootout.

Michael Davies opened the scoring for the Wolves two minutes into the game, and Sterling made it 2-0 with a power play goal at 4:17 of the second period. Spencer Abbott got one back for the Marlies (35-20-7) with a power play goal at 14:07, and the Wolves regained their two-goal cushion with Sterling's second goal of the period at 17:48.

Greg Scott made it a one-goal game for the Marlies with a short handed goal 2:35 into the third period, and Rielly got the equalizer at 14:26.

Matt Climie made 31 saves for Chicago, and Drew MacIntyre stopped 24 shots for Toronto.

Former Leaf defenceman Mike Komisarek played his first game for the Marlies since being placed on waivers by the Maple Leafs.

The Wolves were 1 for 6 on the power play, and the Marlies were 1 for 5.
